In which financial year GST annual return due date extended?

In financial year 2017-18, After thousands of Taxpayers complained about the GST portal not working, the CBIC extends the last date of filing of GSTR 9 and GSTR 9 C for FY 2017-18 in a staggered manner of different groups of states to 3rd, 5th, and 7th February 2020.

In the first group of states includes states of Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Telangana, and other territories will need to file their returns by 3rd Feb 2020.

The Second group includes states of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Rajasthan and Gujarat will need to file their returns by 5th Feb 2020.

Lastly in the third group includes the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Bihar, Meghalaya, Assam, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Dadra, and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Die, Lakshadweep, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh will need to file their returns by 7th Feb 2020.

In the 38th GST Council Meeting, the GST Council recommended that the last date of filing of GST Annual return was extended to 31st January 2020.
