This Alternative Neurological Therapy online course provides an alternative way of approaching neuro-rehabilitation through holistic healing approaches combined onto a foundation of conventional neurological treatment. This course can benefit physiotherapists, occupational therapists and all those in neuro-rehab who are interested in exploring alternative practices to support recovery from conditions such as stroke, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease or spinal cord injury.
Participants will learn how to navigate the using of numerous techniques including; neurodynamic mobilization, sensory stimulation, somatic movement, breath, and mindfulness-based neuroplasticity methods. It will cover contributing modalities such as Ayurveda therapy, reflex therapy, craniosacral techniques and more, that support and complement modern day physiotherapy treatment. The emphasis throughout the course is restoring functional activity using the mind-body connection in a way that supports independence and experience of a quality of life.
All modules will be delivered through videos that are easy to follow, including videos of guided practice demonstrations and case examples where alternative practices were incorporated into rehabilitation. If interested, there will be clinical reasoning tasks and downloadable resources to encourage participants to value their practice in an alternative way and find ways to integrate alternative therapies into conventional rehab interdisciplinary treatment plans.
